In a craft conversation between Honora Spicer and Dr. Marie LaBrosse centered on the latter’s recent book Dream State: A Commonplace Book, (Unnamed Press, 2025), the two poets examine ideas of location, dislocation, and separation.
Within the long lineage of documentary poetry and poetry of witness, Dream State explores an excess state of lived reality, and the state of orality. The conversation considers the dynamics of multiple languages and modes of archiving, different archival regimes, representation as a process, and identity as process, in their relational nature.
