Dr. Alana Marie Levinson-LaBrosse
Alana is Assistant Professor of English at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS), and founder of its arts and culture center, Kashkul. A poet, translator, and Kurdish literature scholar, she has translated numerous Kurdish works into English, including Handful of Salt (Kajal Ahmed) and Dictionary of Midnight (Abdulla Pashew). In 2022, she received an NEA Literature Translation Fellowship for her translation of Hero Kurda’s I Write Yousif.

Pshtiwan Babakr
Pshtiwan is a filmmaker, graphic designer and translator. He graduated from the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani with a major in Cinema. Pshtiwan has maintained and expanded the visual art archive at Kashkul and curated exhibitions for Ismail Fattah Archive, Danaa, Zhian Aziz and Hawar Ebrille from 2017-2019. Babakr has directed and produced documentaries.
