Martin van Bruinessen will deliver the keynote address at the inaugural Kurdish Studies Forum at AUIS, exploring the question: How can Kurdish Studies evolve to further shape international conversations on identity, governance, and cultural production?
Martin van Bruinessen is one of the leading figures in the Kurdish Studies field. His influential doctoral dissertation, Agha, Shaikh and State, remains a seminal work in the field. In recognition of his contributions to Kurdish and Alevi studies, pluralism, and dialogue, he received the Sakıp Sabancı International Research Award in 2015.
